Kia Ora - Welcome to Tui Slater’s Online Gallery and Studio

Multi-disciplined contemporary works focussed on challenging perceptions of New Zealand through its culture, language and imagery.

Wall Art Gallery
New Zealand icons like corrugated iron, shepherds' dog whistles, black singlets along with domestic items from the kitchen and garage are worked into snappy, staunch and savvy pieces about kiwi society

Sculpture Gallery
Created from materials such as bone, metal, wood, wool, fabric and found objects like dolls, hammers and marbles, these works vary in size and style to best suit my concepts.

Jewellery Gallery
My Kiwiana influenced necklaces and brooches are fun and gusty wearable statements about New Zealand life.

Tuiana

Pure "Tuiana" - my parody on Kiwiana. Tuiana is my passion; observing and toying with New Zealand's iconography. I wonder who it is that defines our culture, what our gender and associated roles should be?

The majority of my present work is based on one of two themes:
Black Singlet
New Zealand Landscape
